The new “Virtual Nanny” service automatically notifies parents when their child arrives at school and at home. Based on a SimToolKit application with location-based capabilities, the solution is easy to deploy for the mobile network operators, and easy to use for the subscribers with a setup done through a few clics. Indeed, “Virtual Nanny” is only composed of an applet running in a standalone mode on the SIM, no server being required. A similar location-based service, “Follow Me”, will allow users to forward incoming calls made to their fixed line phone to their mobile with a simple click when leaving the home or the office. “Follow Me” has the same characteristics of usage and deployment as “Virtual Nanny”, with no server component to be setup within the mobile network operators’ infrastructure. Both “Follow Me” and “Virtual Nanny” have been designed to bring added convenience and functionality, and as Java-based applications, they can be loaded onto the SIM card without requiring changes to existing network infrastructure. esaby@axalto.com www.axalto.com www.sonear.com
