Oberthur Technologies ranked number one in contactless smart cards market

ABI Research’s vendor matrix analysed competitors’ strengths and weaknesses through a set of implementation (market presence, portfolio of solutions, compliance, partnership and enablement) and innovation criteria (design features, positioning and strategy, application and use cases, technical innovation). Oberthur Technologies achieved the top position in both implementation and innovation.

According to the competitive assessment, Oberthur Technologies has developed applications to enable a variety of end-users to adopt NFC thanks to ongoing technical innovation and tailored product features. Through a broad portfolio, high-level partnerships and compliance, Oberthur Technologies’ score was boosted.

“ABI Research ranked Oberthur Technologies as the number one in its competitive assessment of NFC Smart Card Vendors in both implementation and innovation categories. Oberthur Technologies was recognised for being the first smart card vendor to achieve significant wins for eSEs as well as fostering high-level partnerships. It was identified as having a well-rounded solution set, incorporating all facets of hardware as well as software and services” said John Devlin, Practice Director at ABI Research.

“We are very proud to be recognised through this study as the leading NFC SIM card and Secure Element vendor. We managed to develop a broad range of NFC solutions from NFC SIM cards (such as dragonFly, the fastest NFC SIM card on the market) to TSM. One of our strengths is our ability to always be at the forefront of innovation and offer our strong expertise on the NFC market. It is a privilege for the company to be recognised by a market intelligence company such as ABI Research” said Cédric Collomb, Managing Director of the Telecom Business Unit at Oberthur Technologies.
