Otto Kuennecke awarded passport project in Korea

The direct distribution of cards to the end customer has considerably increased during the past few years in the sector of ID-1 products. While the distribution has been almost entirely automated with this process, packaging of ID-3 products for the indirect distribution to a branch office or local authority still is a domain of manual labour. This has hardly changed with the introduction of electronic passports. Opening the passports and verification of the correct data, photos, signatures and additional security features under UV- or IR light belongs to the manual verification as well as reading out the chips. Afterwards, the passports are manually sorted, grouped and packed sorted by delivery notes. With the modular Document Inspection Sorting System – DISS single steps can be completely automated and optimized. Each procedure can be delivered as a separate machine or can be set up as a turn-key solution. The DISS is a production system designed for multiple shift operation and includes highest security features. With the DISS, passports can be opened to verify the optical data (and with electronic passports also the chip data). Depending on the subsequent processing, a label containing the passport number can be printed and attached to the outside of the passport cover. A sorting unit then transports the passport to the correct magazine for distribution. Up to 50 magazines can be integrated. The DISS can also group cards according to the final destination, band or cross band them and can apply a print on demand label with the final destination as well as insert the packages into an envelope. The DISS can be modularly extended at any time and a report is generated for each document. backes@kuennecke.com www.kuennecke.com
